A Trio of Senile Excuses

by T. R. DUNHAM

The devil has no happy old men another has well said. It is also said that procrastination is a thief of time, and that there are more people in hell, (having rejected the offer of salvation through Christ), because they waited till another time. They waited until "tomorrow" and "tomorrow" never came. When King Pharaoh was distressed because of the plague God had sent upon his people, he called for Moses and asked Moses to entreat God to take away the plague, and Moses asked when he should do this, "and he said tomorrow." Good intentions do not make decisions. The Apostle Paul stood before Felix the governor "and as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled and answered, Go thy way for this time: when l have a convenient season I will call for thee." There is no account of his ever calling for Paul to know the way of salvation. King Agrippa was greatly moved at one time and said to Paul, "Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian," but we have no account of his salvation.

There are many excuses the devil uses to keep precious souls from accepting Christ as Saviour and Lord. One says, "Too many hypocrites in the church." Another says "Plenty of time yet." Still another reasons, "I'm as good as any church member." These are just a few of the popular excuses, but God says that all men are "without excuse." How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation?" He asks. "Now is the accepted time, behold, now is the day of salvation"(2Cor.6:2). "Today, if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts, as in the day of provocation"(Heb.3:15). Remember, the devil has no happy old men. Accept Christ as Saviour and Lord today. -T. R. DUNHAM
